Who this policy covers

This policy describes how Writes.Press handles personal information when you visit writes.press, create an account, or use the Writes.Press administration tools.

Writes.Press is a platform that authors use to run their own websites. When you visit an author's site, that author decides what is collected and why — they are the data controller, and we act on their instructions as a service provider. This policy does not govern those visits; the author's own privacy policy does. This policy governs your relationship with Writes.Press itself.

Information we collect

Account information. When you sign up we collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and Google account identifier — we never receive your Google password.

Billing information. Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. Card numbers are sent directly to Stripe and are never stored on our systems. We retain the subscription status, plan, and billing history associated with your account.

Content you create. Books, pages, images, and other material you publish through Writes.Press, along with the contacts and subscribers your site collects.

Operational records. Server logs, audit records of administrative actions, and delivery records for the email we send on your behalf.

Cookies and tracking on writes.press

The Writes.Press marketing and administration pages do not run analytics scripts or advertising pixels. We use cookies for two purposes only:

• Session cookies, which keep you signed in. These are required for the service to work and cannot be turned off while you are logged in.
• Advertising attribution. If you arrive at writes.press from a Facebook or Instagram advertisement, the link carries an fbclid parameter. We record that identifier in cookies named wp_fbc and wp_fbc_present so we can tell which advertisements lead to sign-ups. These persist for about 90 days. You can remove them by clearing cookies for this site.

Note that the analytics and advertising features described on our marketing pages are things authors can enable on their own sites. They do not run on writes.press.

How we use information

We use the information above to provide and operate the service, authenticate you, bill you, send service messages about your account, provide support, protect against fraud and abuse, measure which advertisements bring authors to the platform, and meet our legal obligations.

Who we share information with

We share personal information only with service providers that operate parts of the platform on our behalf, and only as far as their function requires:

• Microsoft Azure — hosting, database, and file storage
• Stripe — subscription payments
• Google — sign-in, for accounts that use it
• Meta (Facebook) — advertising measurement, as described above
• Mailchimp and Kit — email delivery for authors who connect those services

We also disclose information where the law requires it, and to a successor if the business is transferred.

We do not sell personal information.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You will not be treated differently for exercising these rights. Much of this is available directly in your account settings; for anything else, contact us and we will respond within the period the applicable law allows.

Security

We protect account credentials with industry-standard hashing, encrypt data in transit, and restrict administrative access to personnel who need it. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

Writes.Press is intended for adults publishing their work. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

We revise this policy as the service changes. The revision date shown with this document reflects the current version, and every earlier version is retained. If a change materially affects your rights, we will notify account holders directly.
